6 New Restaurants In Greece To Try This Summer

There’s nothing like going out to eat in Greece; from epic seaside views, to world-renowned chefs, impeccable produce and exceptional seafood, Greece is a culinary heaven. As one of the most popular travel destinations in Europe, there’s a constant influx of new restaurants and 2022 is no different. Read on to find out about six new dining spots to try in Greece.

1. Varoulko, Santorini

Varoulko Santorini is the island outpost of the popular Varoulko Seaside which has held a Michelin star since opening in 2002. Varoulko Santorini is located in the gorgeous Grace Hotel and features an indoor/outdoor concept overlooking the Aegean Sea. Chef Lefteris Lazarou designed a menu that’s seafood-driven and creative, playing with textures and flavors like their sea bream dish made with smoked and crispy toast. Their wine list is extensive and features many wines from Santorini, and you can enjoy the taste of one of Greece’s favorite aperitifs when you try their mastic-flavored white chocolate mousse.

2. Nobu Santorini

Fancy some seaside sushi? Then the newly opened Nobu Santorini is calling your name. Enjoy a spectacular sunset and famous Nobu dishes like yellowtail sashimi with jalapeño and miso cod followed by a delicious assortment of sushi and sashimi. Aside from their classic dishes, there are also some interesting additions to try such as their taco with caviar, or carpaccio with uni and also, caviar (there can never be too much caviar, right?). For meat lovers there’s also an exceptional wagyu beef which melts in your mouth and pairs perfectly with a stiff drink.

3. Parostià, Paros

Parostià is the beachfront restaurant of the brand new Cosme Paros and gets its name from the stone oven of traditional Parian houses. Come here to enjoy a Mediterranean menu showcasing the best the sea and land have to offer. Standouts include their citrusy and herby ceviche, bottarga pasta which comes in a sunset-resembling hue (and lots of flavor) and their steak which can be ordered with an array of different sauces such as bearnaise, chimichurri or pepper.

4. Ftelia Mykonos

If you love a dinner than can seamlessly blend into a night of partying, you’ve come to the right destination. Ftelia Mykonos (part of the Pacha Group) just opened with an illustrious list of DJs playing this summer. Come here before sunset to enjoy a dinner of watermelon Greek salad, steak and seasoned French fries, before it gets dark and you hit the dance floor.

5. Lighthouse Athens

This new Athens hotel is centrally located and features a beautiful rooftop pool which will also soon be a rooftop restaurant. For now, guests can enjoy the breakfast here which truly goes above and beyond — it even runs until noon so it can be enjoyed to the fullest. Here you’ll find fresh orange juice and an array of Mediterranean goodies such as dolmas, couscous and shakshuka. This is the perfect breakfast to enjoy after some early morning sightseeing, to indulge and then relax by the pool.

6. CHES, Ios

CHES is the newly-opened restaurant in the five-star property Calilo located in Ios. The tasting menu is a love letter to the Greek Islands; inspired by Mykonos there’s an onion pie with fresh herbs and handmade lard, from Tinos you’ll try zucchini croquettes with salami and smoked cheesy cream, or from Naxos a grilled fish fillet with traditional chickpea stew, lemon balm, and bergamot oil. Pair your dinner with their wine tasting menu to sample the best Greece has to offer.
