The looks that came off the Elie Saab Spring-Summer 2023 runway yesterday felt more like resort looks, lighter and a breath of fresh air- and in a way, very un-Elie-Saab-like. If you know the Elie Saab Maison, looks are heavier and filled with elaborate beadwork and sequins- even ready-to-wear. This new collection, Summer Breeze is a breath of fresh air, and though lighter, it’s just as glamorous.
The woman in this collection the house is states: exudes a timeless chic with a touch of garden freshness. The first looks were white broderie anglaise looks. Long pencil-like skirts with a matching broderie anglaise crop top with make for any beach holiday. Or a long halter with the same technique is just as sumptious. “Embroidered interpretations of oversized drill shirts and crepe cady dresses blossom in aromas of gardenia white,” notes the Maison. And we didn’t miss the tailored white pant suit with gold shapes attached. It’s a look that’s fitting for the office, and after work cocktail or dinner party.
Other looks include transparent gowns with colorful flowers cascading down. Green was a look seen throughout the collection. A white shorts suit with a matching cape-like jacket with green stitching design was seen on not just look but others. A glamorous halter green gown with thigh high slit, fitted waistline, and A-line silhouette is red carpet perfect. Other flowing gowns in purple wisteria and coral were a part of the collection.
“A motley-colored bouquet of floral yarn-embroidery vines across nude tulle gowns and cocktail cutout dresses in playful illusions of transparency and opulence. A silver sequin sash across a sober white taffeta one shoulder pantsuit with a large bow embellishment, makes a bold, yet subdued statemen,” continues the House.
Unveiled from Palais de Tokyo, every seat was filled to see what Mr. Saab created. The woman that wears this collection is confident in the skin she’s in, stylish, and lighter silhouettes don’t bother her, she handles them boldly.
