Experience The South Of France At This Caribbean Hotel
With European travel more overbooked and hectic than ever, a Caribbean hotel is trying to provide southern France’s charm without setting foot across the pond. Rosewood Le Guanahani St. Barth’s offers coastal France’s pampering, style, and joie de vivre, minus the headache of transatlantic travel and overcrowded tourist traps. And they promise not to disappoint. How? They do so by focusing nearly every property detail on being authentically French.
The overall architecture and design of the resort are deeply rooted in French Caribbean aesthetics. The kids club counselors are also willing to teach guests’ children the French language basics through games and resort activities. In fact, all counselors speak English and French.
Meanwhile, Stephane Carou was St. Barth’s first Clefs d’Or Concierge and has worked at the property for almost 26 years, and 24-hour Clefs d’Or Concierge service is available. Plus, the lavender bougainvillea found around the property is a nod to Provence. And there are French illustrations in the rooms of women frolicking in the sea, titled La Rire, a reminder of the island’s French Culture.
You can even shop authentically at the onsite Pompom Paris pop-up. French designer and founder of Pompom Paris, Lola Rykiel, created a capsule collection of crystal pullovers, velour tracksuits, and yoga attire, available only at the resort’s shop, La Boutique. Over that ‘Sense,’ A Rosewood Spa, the French beauty culture inspires the treatments with B3 enriched moisturizers, algae infusion facials, lemon oil body wraps, and more.
Regarding food, you can dine like a Parisian at The Beach House with caviar pasta and a saddle of lamb. Or, take a French cooking class from an expert. And, in the evening, enjoy barrel-aged cocktails with hand-selected cigars on a terrace at Bar Mélangé. Plus, all of this French heritage luxury is crafted by a team of associates who are 90 percent French to ensure authenticity.
“Rosewood Le Guanahani St. Barth is the Caribbean’s hidden gem where one can experience authentic French culture alongside our colorful design elements and lush vegetation (over 100 varieties of flora found on site),” said Managing Director Martein van Wagenberg. “Nowhere else will you experience the same level of authenticity and attention to detail when it comes to creating what we all treasure about France and the famous southern coastlines.”
Speaking of a coastline, the property is situated on 18 lush acres and has its own peninsula. So, guests can enjoy private sandy shores and boating excursions much like those in the South of France. For more of that upscale privacy, Rosewood Le Guanahani features a mix of suites and private villas, perfect for either a romantic getaway or a family vacation requiring private pools. Of course, there are two public pools—one that is family-friendly and another that is adults only—that you can enjoy while looking out over the picture-perfect sea.
Van Wagenberg added, “Our pristine beaches and stunning preserves instill an immediate sense of peace, and guests return to our property time and time again to indulge in the French Caribbean joie de vivre that is woven throughout all aspects of our paradisal destination.”
