Inside The New Box-Trot Handbag Collection By Longchamp

Calling all Longchamp fans, the French luxury label has launched its latest handbag collection in the form of the Box-Trot range, and it exudes the simple and timeless elegance of Longchamp.

Made up of three bag sizes and two purses, expect a medium cross-body, a smaller version, and a mini format with a top handle and shoulder strap for those who like dinky accessories, along with a long continental wallet and a coin purse. As for the colorways, there are five variants with classic and contemporary shades of black and cognac, vibrant orange, and lilac and cypress.

Of course, the collection in name and silhouette nods to its equestrian and leather heritage, with a new take on the brand’s horse and rider logo that features on smooth calfskin sourced from LWG gold-certified tanneries that promotes sustainable environmental practices in the leather industry.

Sophie Delafontaine, Creative Director of Longchamp tells us more about the new collection.

Inspiration and design: The Box-Trot collection is an important and exciting launch for Longchamp as the design is a bit different than anything we’ve done before in terms of shape and structure. It also features a first-of-its-kind take on the brand’s iconic horse and rider logo – an intricately designed medallion in gold-tone metal – a metaphor for the energy and independence of the Longchamp woman.

When creating this collection, I was inspired to make a bag that would be a celebration of the joie de vivre and the independent, dynamic, and bold. The style of the bag itself was influenced by spontaneity and a life lived on the go – structured yet sleek and effortless, it stays true to a classic geometric form of a self-assured statement. The name “Box-Trot” alludes to Longchamp’s equestrian associations (remember, it was named after the most famous racecourse in Paris) and to the style of the bag itself: a sleek, boxy shape. Simple, yet sophisticated, effortless, yet timeless – the very definition of French chic.

Materials: Longchamp’s handbags are always made with high-quality products and designed with authentic materials. Emblematic of the house’s leather heritage, Box-Trot comes in smooth calfskin leather with a slight patina, a pale gold metallic medallion, and split velvet cowhide lining. Both refined and casual, Box-Trot mischievously cultivates the French paradox that Longchamp is famous for. The smooth calfskin is sourced from Leather Working Group (LWG) gold-certified tanneries, an organization that promotes sustainable environmental practices in the leather industry, which is important to us as a brand.

Versatility: This next-gen classic handbag is the perfect everyday accessory to take you from the office to your next adventure. It was designed with versatility in mind because the modern woman is always on the go, which makes it an essential for the upcoming fall season and beyond. The collection comes in five colors and three sizes with an adjustable strap, and its understated and structured design can be styled in countless combinations. The handbags are also complemented by a long continental wallet and a coin purse with a shoulder strap, so there are a variety of colors, options, and sizes to choose from in the Box-Trot collection.

Longchamp heritage and quality: Embodying French craftsmanship, Longchamp, led by the Cassegrain Family for four generations, is dedicated to offering lasting products. The company’s main objective is to ensure that customers can hold onto their items for time to come, care for them and pass them on. Therefore, Longchamp is committed to making high-quality products designed with precision and created with authentic materials in our workshops. The Box-Trot collection was no different – we wanted to offer a luxury, high-quality handbag, which truly makes this an investment-worthy piece to add to your wardrobe as it will not only last but can be passed on.

Longchamp’s Fall/Winter 2022 campaign: Longchamp’s Fall/Winter 2022 “Les Filles” campaign includes our new season film, J’aime Les Filles, and highlights the Box-Trot collection. J’aime Les Filles consists of an all-female team and spotlights young-female talent, including director Alice Kong and actors Annabelle Belmondo and Marion Barbeau. Longchamp celebrates friendship through a story following two Parisian women who are excited to meet again in Paris to check off a bucket list together and make up for a lost time. The two women run around Paris, carrying their Longchamp handbags, ready for whatever the day throws at them.
