Leesa Rowland On Her Royal Ball, Vegan Designers And Latest Book, ‘The Charisma Factor’

Leesa Rowland has been busy. The philanthropist, actress, animal rights activist, party host and book author recently hosted a royal ball at the Lotos Club in New York City, and recently releasing her book, The Charisma Factor: Unlock the Secrets of Magnetic Charm and Personal Influence in Your Life.

For the holiday season, and with family and work parties around the corner, we all need charisma—more than fashion. In Rowland’s book, she calls charisma “an unseen but powerful force, a special and compelling spark that makes you unique and sets you apart from the rest of the crowd.”

The book is riddled with personal tips and anecdotes of meeting the stars and staying on top of a busy social calendar—maintaining a smile, and style, through the chaos and ups and downs of our everyday lives. “I want to help people become the best that they can be,” explains Rowland. “One of the chapters I my book that’s especially strong is about different charismatic personalities, the traits that they have, and their magnetism.”

Forbes: What were some of the highlights from your recent party?

Leesa Rowland: The DJ Olivier Meiji had everyone energetically dancing the night away with music straight from Saint Tropez. The theme was the Royal Halloween Ball and you actually felt as if you were partying at Kensington Palace. Everyone dressed as kings, queens, and other various Royals. There was life size cut outs of the Royal Family situated around the club for photo ops and rumor has it the Queen’s cut out even once made it out to the dance floor. There were so many gorgeous ballgowns, each one more magnificent than the next and both the men and women looked their absolute most stunning versions of themselves. The chef at the Lotos Club really did an extra special job incorporating innovative vegan options along with many other savory options for everyone.

Can you tell us about the dress that was designed for you?

My Regal Royal Purple taffeta ball gown is hands down the most gorgeous and fabulous dress I have worn in my entire life! The belt is painstakingly hand beaded and is mesmerizing close up. The collar comes up from behind framing my face beautifully. Marc thinks of everything. Vegan fashion designer Marc Bouwer is a genius, I love everything he creates but this gown is beyond.

As the author of The Charisma Factor, how can women use their charm to best host a holiday party this upcoming season? It’s more than what you wear to a holiday party, but how you carry yourself, how engaging you are, right?

I’m so happy masks are off! Take advantage of this and greet your guests with a great big, beautiful smile and be quick to introduce yourself and others. Trust me, it’s absolutely golden.

What helps unlock the mysterious formula of charisma, for charm and influence?

Figuring out what it is you really love to do is key to developing magnetic and powerful charisma. When you are doing what you love, charisma flows naturally.

How does the power of fashion play a factor in charisma? What about comedy?

The power of fashion is so powerful it actually even has its own charisma. So does comedy. Humor can be a substantial factor in charisma, don’t be afraid of it.

What tips do you have for hosting a holiday gathering?

I love coming up with festive signature cocktails, that’s always a win. Seriously, a great, freshly crafted drink can really help set the mood for a party, so don’t underestimate it. You can also set the mood with color—from lights to décor—and by playing and experimenting with various color schemes.

What fashion designers do you look to for inspiration this fall and winter?

I generally work with vegan fashion designers such as Stella McCartney first before I choose from others. Alice and Olivia is another brand that has some beautiful vegan leather pieces this fall. Marc Bouwer has some gorgeous faux furs in his new collection, too.

What excites you the most about 2023?

I’m excited for 2023 to be healthy, prosperous, enlightening, and transformational for all humans and animals across our world.
