Live Like Royalty At This Five Star Hotel In Barcelona

The Majestic Hotel & Spa Barcelona, one of the best-known five star hotels in Barcelona,will celebrate its 105th anniversary in 2023. Few luxury hotels around the world have a storied history as impressive as The Majestic.

Privately owned since 1918 by a local Barcelona family, the Soldevila Casals, the hotel reflects the family’s personal attention to every detail. The Majestic Hotel & Spa is a traditional European-style grand hotel located in a neoclassical building on the exclusive Paseo de Gracia, one of the most storied boulevards in Barcelona. Many of the city’s best-known cultural attractions are close to The Majestic, such as the Antoni Gaudi-designed Casa Batlló, the expansive food market known as the Mercado de La Boqueria and the medieval neighborhood known as the Barri Gotic. You don’t even have to leave the hotel to enjoy the local culture. Like the grand hotels of yesterday, the Majestic is staffed by a well-trained team of professionals who treat each guest like a visiting dignitary, from its porters, doorman and concierge to the rest of its staff at the front desk, restaurants, bars and spa. The guest experience throughout the hotel, is what you might expect of a five star property.

Each of the guest rooms were renovated during the hotel’s extensive renovation in 2013, with many expanded. Majestic guest rooms, which now features 271 total rooms, includes 45 suites (of which 30 are Junior Suites, 10 are Majestic Suites and five are Penthouse Suites). Guest rooms and suites are beautifully and tastefully decorated in neutral tones and every guest room and suite have beautifully appointed marble bathrooms.

The ninth floor of The Majestic, formerly the private residence of the Soldevila Casals family, is now divided into five expansive and beautifully decorated suites. Three of the suites can be combined to create The Royal Penthouse Suite, a nearly 5,026 square foot magnificent three-bedroom residence with an expansive living room, catering kitchen and multiple expansive private terraces with whirlpools and views galore. Often, the entire ninth floor is reserved by royal families and billionaires from all over the world who are in need of a lot of space and an additional level of security.

Butler service, which provides dedicated, personalized attention, is available and can be requested by guests staying in any category, while it is included in the price for those guests staying in the exclusive Majestic Royal Penthouse Suite. The butler can provide a wide variety of services, from arranging for a perfectly ironed suit or unpacking and storing a guest’s luggage, organize coffee and tea service or shopping for a perfect last minute gift for someone special. A complimentary chauffeur service with a luxury vehicle is also provided to guests booking the Majestic Royal Penthouse Suite.

Across the street from The Majestic at 69 de Passeig de Gracia, the hotel operates a boutique apartment building with one to four bedroom units, which is ideal for families who need more space and/or kitchen facilities. Guests staying in the apartments have access to all the same amenities and features of the hotel.

Many of the apartments have views over the Passeig de Gracia. Apartments range in size from 684 square feet 1,507 square feet with capacity of up to eight people, depending on the size of the unit. Its duplex apartments feature a solarium terrace with expansive views overlooking the city. Daily housekeeping service is available at an additional cost and the hotel can also pre-arrange for the kitchen to be fully stocked with specific foods requested by its guests (at an additional cost) .

The spa, which was fully renovated and re-opened during the summer of 2022, offers a wide variety of facials and massages in its four treatment rooms. Massage techniques include relaxing, therapeutic, detoxifying and sports. Massages can also can be personalized for an individual client. The spa’s private hydrotherapy center features a large whirlpool, dry sauna, eucalyptus-infused steam room. It can be booked in hourly slots for individual use or small groups traveling together. The spa’s team of professional therapists use Natura Bisse facial products, which are produced in Spain.

The hotel’s fitness center offers Precor cardiovascular and weight-training equipment and there is a plunge pool on its roof. The Majestic will soon break ground on a new indoor swimming pool and fitness facility in the lower level of the hotel. The swimming pool is expected to be completed in early 2024.

The food and beverage service at The Majestic includes Restaurant SOLC, which is a fine dining Michelin star-quality experience only open for dinner on Wednesday through Saturday. Raw ingredients, including nearly all of the produce are hyper local, coming from its own kitchen garden in Maresme near the Mediterranean Sea, while its meat and fresh are procured from local producers on a daily basis. The restaurant’s Catalan cuisine features a menu that is determined daily, depending on what fresh ingredients were secured. Immediacy, freshness, origin, and respect are the hallmarks of this new culinary initiative. It is a farm-to-table experience that is not to be missed.

Guests can also experience first-hand the locality of the products used in the restaurant. The concierge can arrange for guests to enjoy a guided tour with the enology experts of Winenium to visit the kitchen garden owned by the Majestic where the vegetables served at Restaurant SOLC are cultivated. Guests can also visit Alta Alella winery and taste its wines, such as the AA Cau d’En Genís Cuvée Majestic, produced exclusively for the hotel, and enjoy a Tasting Menu at Restaurant SOLC with a wine pairing created by the restaurant’s sommelier.

The Majestic is well-known for its sumptuous breakfast which is located in the same dining room used by SOLC. Here, a very impressive and extensive buffet is offered daily. Menu items such as eggs made to order, are also available. The restaurant’s solarium is an especially lovely place to enjoy breakfast.

El Bar del Majestic is located off the hotel lobby. Here, you can enjoy everything from breakfast to an appetizer, lunch, a wide variety of wines, cavas and champagnes, innovative craft cocktails, and dinner. Several evenings each week, there is a pianist belting out tunes to the enjoyment of everyone there.

On the roof of the hotel, is the Rooftop “La Dolce Vitae” Restaurant & Bar. Open daily, the restaurant features artisanal and local cheeses, tacos, burgers, salads, grilled octopus and much more. The terrace is expansive, and surrounds the plunge pool which is illuminated at night. The views from the rooftop are not to be believed. Here, you can see the beautiful skyline of the city, and such iconic sites as the famous Sagrada Familia. A resident DJ and other recognized international DJs play music every night during the summer months.
