The Beauty Guide: Skincare Steps For Winter

In time for fall, Davidson shares his skincare steps to achieve a healthy, hydrated, glowing complexion this winter.

Cleanse

The first step to radiant-looking skin is cleansing. Your skin will benefit from removing build-up, boosting hydration, and will maintain clear skin. I recommend starting with EVE LOM Cleanser – it’ll remove makeup, exfoliate and moisturize for up to 12 hours after use. Often, people skip using a washcloth, but this is a simple step for helping to achieve more radiant skin; submerge in warm water and lay it on your face while your cleanser is still on and press with both hands for about 10 seconds. Then, use it to remove the cleanser in small, circular motions.


Double cleanse

Double cleansing is a great method to cleanse skin at the end of the day. This process involves using an oil-based cleanser to remove makeup, SPF and impurities from the day. Then follow with a water-based cleanser to boost hydration and calm the skin.


Tone

Don’t underestimate the importance of incorporating a toner into your daily skincare routine. When used regularly, it can have a significant positive impact on the appearance and tightness of pores. EVE LOM’s Rescue Toner is a gentle yet effective toner that mildly exfoliates to help stimulate the natural process of cell turnover. It is a crucial step in minimizing pore and texture appearance. This is especially important in the fall and winter because mild exfoliation is beneficial for keeping the skin from becoming dry. Removing dead skin will give the rest of your products a boost to work more effectively. Whichever toner you choose, I like to ensure it’s alcohol-free for the wintertime. Also, ensure you apply it immediately after you cleanse and leave the skin slightly damp when you use it for maximum benefit.


Apply a serum

If you think of skincare as a 3-course meal, cleanser being your appetizer, the serum would be your entrée! For daytime use, follow with sunscreen. Even in cooler months, it’s essential to wear sunscreen every day, year round! All you need is 2 or 3 drops of serum. Apply to your face, and don’t forget to include your neck. When you apply the product, press it into the skin.


Moisturize

As the seasons change, just like you change your wardrobe, it is essential to incorporate a moisturizer that will provide additional moisturization, boost hydration and soothe and calm the skin during the colder months. Look for a moisturizer with ingredients known for their hydrating benefits, like hyaluronic acid, for example – it’s one of the most effective and powerful ingredients for hydration. Apply it daily as the last step of your skincare routine. If your skin seems particularly dry or needs an extra boost of hydration, you can also mix in a bit of face oil like EVE LOM Radiance Face Oil for an added glow.


Mask

During the fluctuating temperatures in the winter months, one of my favorite skincare secrets is to incorporate a mask into my routine 2 to 3 times a week, like the EVE LOM’s Moisture Mask, leave it on overnight (a thin layer over the face, neck and chest) for a boost of 72 hours of hydration.
