Vanessa Kirby, Marion Cotillard, and Tahar Rahim Stun On The 19th Marrakesh Film Festival Red Carpet

The Marrakesh Film Festival opened this week in the western Moroccan city of Marrakesh, and it is seeing an influx of fashion and Hollywood. While it’s not rare to see Hollywood and notable actors at smaller film festivals, and while fashion and film are in an unbreakable marriage, it is nothing short of amazing to see how the festival organizers have gotten notable names to grace their red carpet. Seventy-six films from thirty-three countries are apart of the festival.

Set at the Palais des Congres, the festival will continue until November 19th. Prince Moulay Rachid is over the festival’s foundation and Remi Bonhomme is the artistic director. Sitting on the festival jury are some high-profile names: British actor, Vanessa Kirby, American-Guatemalan actor Oscar Isaac, Lebanese director Nadine Labaki, German actress Diane Kruger, French actor Tahar Rahim, Australian director Justin Kurzel, Moroccan director Laïla Marrakchi, and Danish director Susanne Bier. Paolo Sorrentino is chairing the jury. He is an Oscar-winning director for his film, The Great Beauty.

The opening ceremony saw no shortage of a fashionable red carpet:

Vanessa Kirby, Givenchy

Kirby wore a long black silk crepe asymmetrical gown with crystal buttons from Givenchy’s SS23 collection.

Tahar Rahim

Wearing a velvet tux Tahar’s bowtie was a unique one for the opening ceremony.

Diane Kruger, Givenchy

From Matthew M. Williams’ Fall 2022 collection, Kruger wore a silver ripped long sequin gown with an open back and turtleneck neck line.

Marina Foïs

The French comedic actress wore a gold glittering top that flowed to the ground with tassels at the end, giving the appearance of her wearing a rug. She matched that with black shorts and knee high black boots.

Isabelle Huppert, Dior

Wearing Dior Haute Couture from their Spring 2017 collection, Huppert channeled Medieval vibes with the A-line silhouette and hood.

Marion Cotillard, Chanel

An ambassador for the French Maison, Cotillard wore a pinstripe long dress.

Virginie Efira, Saint Laurent

Wearing a pre-fall 2022 Saint Laurent tuxedo with ribbon bow tie.
