Delta Air Lines has this week announced that it will be offering a new take on in-flight entertainment: the airline will be partnering with Masterclass to offer educational content alongside its existing in-flight streaming options for domestic and international passengers.
The partnership marks the first time MasterClass has made its content available via in-flight entertainment and will include a curated selection of existing classes as soon as next month. Each class ranges from 10 to 24 lessons each with each lesson being about 10 minutes per lesson—which is more than enough time to complete an entire MasterClass in a single flight duration.
“What you learn along your journey is often as important as where you’re headed, and flying on Delta means always having something new to discover,” Ekrem Dimbiloglu, Managing Director, In-Flight Entertainment and Wi-Fi Experience at Delta, said in a recent press release.
“Exclusive partnerships with brands our customers love are what really set Delta Studio apart—we’re not only connecting customers to their destinations but also bringing content onboard that ensures they can be their very best when they arrive.”
The first classes in the initial roll-out will feature lessons from Mashama Bailey, James Beard Award–winning chef, best-selling author Malcolm Gladwell, and novelist Amy Tan. Delta and MasterClass will also be making additional classes available throughout the rest of the year.
Delta Air Lines also has existing partnerships with the likes of Spotify—which allows passengers to experience specially-curated in-flight playlists. The airline also partners with Peloton to offer exclusive instructor-led stretching and meditation classes designed to help passengers feel more comfortable throughout the flight.
